The World Series of Poker enters what is probably its most exciting phase this week on the run-up to the really big championship events, and one player on his way to Vegas is thankful that he screwed up on entering what he thought was a $10 satellite tournament.
Robert Guinther (65) will compete with some of the top players in the world thanks to his error, because he thought he was entering a $10 online poker tournament when in reality he had mistakenly entered a $100 WSOP satellite event.
He went on to win, earning a spot in a $10,000 buy-in, no-limit tournament at the WSOP later this week, when he will go up against 6,600 other players who qualified or paid the expensive buy-in for the chance to win significant prizes from a prize chest believed to be some $6.5 million this year….and of course one of those famous first place WSOP bracelets.
