The latest round of World Series of Poker games has seen many pros bite the dust according to Poker News reports.
The attrition rate was high for most top pros, and dozens of leading players did not manage to fight their way through the large number of contestants. In the first day of action 650 players came through, but in this latest field only 595 made it.
Daniel Negreanu was one of the more notable first day exits, but others who won’t be winning the WSOP this year, and were eliminated included Kathy Liebert, Phil Gordon, Phil Hellmuth, Erick Lindgren, Max Pescatori, Men the Master, Evelyn Ng, Allen Cunningham, Cyndy Violette, David Williams, Annie Duke, Miami John and John Hennigan.
Former champion Chris Moneymaker survived his field, as did Olga Varkoni although husband and 2002 champ Robert Varkoni crashed out.
Familiar names on the successful list included David “Chino” Reem, Scott Lazar, J.C. Tran, Amir Vehedi, Michael Mizrachi, Joe Beevers from the Hendon Mob and David Sklansky.
World famous players like Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey and Howard Lederer have still to play and their games are eagerly anticipated.
