Look out for Poker Fundraiser.org, a new site designed to assist in fund-raising for the needy which has been put together by Superior Poker.com.
The site features a new and completely automated system that allows charities to accept up to 50 percent of the proceeds from online poker tournaments as donations. The remaining proceeds go to poker tournament winners.
Poker Fundraiser’s first benefit tournament is being held on October 15, 2005 for an industry veteran’s wife who was diagnosed with cancer. The Kristen Richter Fund tournament was established to help with the overwhelming hospital bills incurred.
“Charity poker is something we’ve considered from day one at Superior Poker.com,” commented Superior Poker.com’s General Manager, Scott Owens. “With PokerFundraiser.org, we can host charity tournaments where the prize pool is split 50/50 between the player and the charity organization. This allows us to donate a significant amount to charities while still providing a large enough tournament prize incentive.”
Charities who wish to be considered for a tournament can sign up on the website at Poker Fundraiser.org.
