Introduced earlier this month, the new turbo poker tables at Pacific Poker.com are proving popular, judging by posts on several fora and general player comments.

The turbo tables were introduced for poker players seeking fast-paced and speedier games, and Mike Herea, promotions department manager for Pacific Poker is very excited by the new feature. “We undertook extensive surveying of our player base and the number one concern was games dragging on too long. As a result of this, we have introduced games that have a shortened time to make a decision and the levels go up quicker.”

There are two types of accelerated games. The first is Turbo games, which give the player five seconds for the blinds and 10 seconds for the other rounds. The second type is the fast games, which allow seven seconds for the blinds and 14 seconds for the other rounds.

Herea says the response to the new concept has been great, with the number of players selecting the faster action games increasing steadily, with some players using the opportunity to practice for the upcoming 888.com UK Open. This is a million dollar poker tournament that is likely to be one of the highlights of the online poker scene this year.

Qualifying takes place online with every qualifier receiving $12,500 which consists of $10,000 for the entry fee and $2,500 for travel and accommodation expenses.

The free money practice version of Pacific Poker has an even larger selection of turbo games. “We have multi tables that only grant seven seconds and levels go up every two minutes,” says Herea. “There are the Nitro Sit & Go tables that give 10 seconds and the Super Fast Heads Up tables that only allow seven seconds to make a choice.”
