The new Irish Poker Champion is John Clancy, who beat 300 other determined poker players this week in Dublin to take home the Euro 114 000 winner’s check, a little down from expectations following a deal late in the deciding game to split the pot among the last three players.
Scott Bryant took second place and Euro 75 000, and the number 3 slot was filled by Ciaran Burke (Euro 55 000)
Played at the City West Hotel for a prizepool totalling Euro 423 000, the Texas Hold ‘Em freeze out championship produced some outstanding and tension filled poker right through to the final table and the ultimate finish.
