International poker players will be gathering in the vibrant Spanish coastal city of Barcelona this October following an announcement by the World Poker Tour that its Season 6 itinerary is to include Spain.
Scheduled for the Casino Barcelona owned by Grup Peralada in the city, this fourteenth WPT tournament will be filmed
The WPT – Grup Peralada collaboration could be the start of a closer relationship going forward; the two organisations are discussing future poker ventures in Spain and the possibility of a Spanish tour that would televise events at Grup Peralada casinos elsewhere together with new ideas for Portugal and South America.
Characterising the partnership as a ground breaking deal, WPT CEO Steve Lipscomb said: “This is a very important move for us as we continue to expand our business in the European market.”
Grup Peralada casino division chief Oliver Zugel agreed, commenting: “It will create a new standard for premium, televised poker events in Europe and lay the groundwork for an Iberian tour involving other leading casinos in Spain and Portugal.”
