Online poker website UltimateBet.com, viewed by many players with suspicion after the cheating scandal at sister Absolute Poker and allegations against its own operations, could achieve more credibility with the appointment of player ace and activist Annie Duke.
This week the website’s apparently new management team announced a new poker tournament schedule and welcomed Duke as its new poker room consultant. The online poker site has taken the bold step of handing over the management of its tournament schedule to Annie Duke, who is widely respected for her commitment to the game and for her personal integrity.
“Annie Duke has a proven track record of not only playing the game, but also knowing exactly what online poker players want to see in a tournament schedule,” said UltimateBet.com spokesperson George MacLean. “We’re confident that her unparalleled insight will significantly enhance our poker offering and strengthen our online poker community.”
The poker champion is no stranger to the UltimateBet brand. Duke was a key player in designing the UltimateBet software and was a consultant for the poker room several years ago. She is apparently excited to be back on board to build a schedule that will attract old and new players to the site.
“I opted to accept the poker room Consultant position after spending time with UltimateBet’s new senior management team,” notes Duke. “I am extraordinarily pleased with their commitment to wanting what’s best for the poker player and I have a renewed sense of enthusiasm in the future of UltimateBet.”
