PocketFives.com, one of the premier poker information websites for online poker news, rankings, and strategy information has launched a new German language version catering to the growing interest in poker in that country.
The 50 000 member online poker community site launched in 2005, and provides thousands of strategy articles, tournament recaps, forum posts, and industry news pieces at de.pocketfives.com.
Adam Small, co-founder of PocketFives.com, says that online poker is growing in leaps and bounds worldwide.
“At the 2008 World Series of Poker, which is currently underway from the Rio in Las Vegas, players from nine different countries have captured bracelets for winning events,” he said. “Those countries include Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Holland, Italy, Russia, the United States, and Germany.
“The popularity of online poker across Europe is at an all-time high. In response to this growth, PocketFives.com announces the launch of its site completely in German.
Small says that PocketFives staff are planning promotions just for the German-speaking community as the number of German members on the site has increased dramatically.
“Our goal is to become more involved in the German poker community, said Small. “We’re reaching out with a new German forum and poker strategy articles by some of the top poker minds on the planet.”
One of the hallmark features of PocketFives.com has been the Worldwide Online Poker Rankings. Using a mathematical formula based on tournament results, past performance, and peer evaluation, PocketFives.com calculates the top online poker players every week. These rankings can be sorted by country.
The top German player in the world according to the Sliding Leader Board is “goodvibe,” who hails from Frankfurt. He’s ranked 40th worldwide on the site and nabbed nearly $50 000 on June 1st by winning the $100 rebuy on PokerStars.
In second place is “bastet,” who lives in Münster. He recently won one of the largest online poker tournaments offered every week, the Full Tilt Poker Sunday Brawl, cashing for $71 724.
In third place on the German leader board is “Firefox,” a Paderborn native, whose wins include a $20 000 cash in the High Roller $30K Guaranteed on PartyPoker.
“PocketFives.com will continue to expand the number of languages offered,” promised Small. “Our ability to work with the most popular online poker rooms to bring our members one-of-a-kind promotions is one of the reasons we’ve been able to grow so quickly.”
