The last time the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade heard evidence on the implications of legalising online poker (see previous report), its chairperson Rep. Mary Bono Mack called for more information before making any decisions, and this week she intends to pursue her point with another hearing on Capitol Hill on Friday.
The Presse-Enterprise report that the hearing, entitled, “Internet Gaming: Regulating in an Online World,” will examine the impact of legalised online gambling on US consumers and other stakeholders.
It follows last month’s hearing, at which Bono Mack stopped short of voicing support for a pending bill to legalise online poker introduced by Texas Rep. Joe Barton, saying that she hoped to hear official views from various states on the implications of federal legalisation.
