Strong speculation that Democrat Senator Harry Reid of Nevada would include an online poker legalisation provision in his tax break extension bill Monday (see previous report) proved to be unfounded.
The Senator’s proposed payroll tax reduction compromise contained no extraneous measures such as legalised online poker as a means of providing additional state revenues.
That’s not to say that an attachment could not yet be made, still hopeful observers maintained, quoting Reid staffers as indicating that the Nevada Senator could drive through an Internet poker legalisation measure this Congressional session.
