No more new US players for Intertops Poker.

The online poker operations of industry pioneer Intertops has abruptly and inexplicably banned new US sign-ups.

Would-be new US players receive the following message from the operator:

“Thank you for your interest in Intertops! Unfortunately, we are unable to accept new customers from your country or region at this time. If you believe you received this message in error please contact our customer support team.”

The company’s T&Cs also carry the clause: ?Intertops reserves the right to refuse new registrations from the United States.?

Industry observers have speculated that the ban may in some way be connected with Intertop’s recent switch to the recently formed Revolution Network, formed when Lock Poker took over Cake Poker Network (see previous reports).

They point to the example of Merge Poker, which was obliged last year to curtail US sign-ups in order to give itself sufficient space to handle the influx of new US players looking for a home in the wake of the Black Friday debacle.

Although company spokesmen have confirmed the ban, they have been unable or unwilling to discuss its cause.

So far the Intertops action does not appear to have been emulated by other Revolution operators.
