French online poker rooms merge.

By RP, July 19, 2012

In a statement Thursday the French online poker rooms Mypok and PokerXtrem announced that they have, with the authority of the French regulator ARJEL, agreed to merge under the Mypok brand, effective July 31st.

The rationale for the merge is to create greater player liquidity and present a more competitive commercial offering to players.

In an interview with iGamingFrance, Georges Djen, a PokerXtrem director, said the merger of the two rooms was also due to a lack of promised marketing.

“We relied heavily on marketing efforts by 888 and Microgaming that did not materialise, forcing us to work together in order to survive and develop joint promotional vehicles,” he said, adding that the partners had decided not to ‘throw in the towel’ in favour of the more positive course of a merger and a decision to remain in the French market.
