Pennsylvania poker pro Ben Hamnett will be celebrating his biggest pay day yet after besting a field of 1,180 other players to claim the $818,847 main prize in the $3,500 buy-in World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open on Friday.

It was Hamnett’s biggest win yet, taking his career earnings into million dollar territory.

After almost a week of hectic action, the massive field – the second largest in WPT history – distilled to a final table hungry for the lion’s share of the $3,897,300 prize pool that comprised Hamnett around the middle of a pack that included Matthew Burnitz, Tyler Patterson, Ofir Mor, Steve Brecher and David Diaz.

Hamnett worked his way through the final table to end the game with a 2 to 1 advantage in a heads up with Matthew Burnitz, and although the latter struggled valiantly and made some headway, Hamnett was on a roll when it came to the pots that mattered, and he prevailed.

Burnitz picked up a well-earned second placing check of $488,850.
