Negreanu team wins heads up poker challenge.

Following two weeks of very public rivalry on Twitter and in the online media, a team of three Pokerstars pros skippered by Daniel Negreanu bested the pros from sister site Full Tilt Poker in a heads up battleship-format poker competition on Sunday.

They did it convincingly, too – Negreanu, Bertrand Grospellier and Isaac Haxton won eight of the nine games to claim the $150,000 put up in prizes.

Gus Hansen, who captained Viktor Blom and Tom Dwan on the defeated Full Tilt team, hinted at a rematch to redress the 3-0 whitewash, and that is likely to be a popular option for the many railbirds who clicked over to watch the action.

Grospellier set the tone by hammering Blom 3 – 0 in the first round, followed by Haxton, who sorted out Dwan 2 – 1 without too much fuss in the second, effectively giving the tournament to Pokerstars.

It was left to Negreanu to complete the rout, which he did by defeating Hansen 3 – 0.

The much-hyped NLHE contest occurred in London and was streamed over the internet.
