The World Series of Poker progressed its geographic expansion agenda this week, announcing its official schedule for the inaugural World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific.
Taking place at Melbourne, Australia’s Crown Casino, the tournament will consist of five bracelet events and runs from April 4 to 15 this year.
Supporting satellites will kick off soon, and the series will include rail-bird-pulling High Roller and Caesars Cup Invitational events.
WSOP executive director Ty Stewart said Tuesday: “We can’t wait for the first WSOP Asia-Pacific to begin, and we hope with a solidified schedule, players from around the globe will plan their trip to Melbourne in April as we make WSOP history [by] awarding the first bracelets in the Southern Hemisphere.”
Details of the schedule are available from the WSOP website, but the buy-ins range from A$1,100 to A$50,000 for the High Roller, and the main event runs from April 11 through 15.
Pot Limit Omaha, NLHE and 6 handed NLHE, along with a mixed game event all feature.
There will be televised coverage of main event, the High Roller and Caesars Cup, but impatient internet users will have access to live-streaming from the tournament over the Web.
