Californian internet poker ace takes down the Wynn Classic.

A young poker from Los Altos, California scored his biggest live tournament career win yet this week, clinching the winner’s title and a prize of $318 738 after a tense heads up with online poker phenom Annette Obrestad.

No stranger to the online environment himself ? Tim West plays under the pseudonym Tmay and has racked up over $4 million in internet winnings – the 2011 Wynn Classic gave West his biggest payday yet, bringing his live tournament career winnings to over a million dollars.

There were 212 entries for the $5,000 buy-in NLHE competition held in Las Vegas, generating a prize pool of $1,028,200. The entry field included well known players like David Woo, Men Nguyen, Billy Kopp and Phil Hellmuth, and the final table had a good representation of ace players in Obrestad, Carter King, Matthew Waxman and Eric Froehlich.

Obrestad’s runner up prize was worth $215,922.
