With less than 72 hours to go to the start of this year’s World Series of Poker Friday, it’s perhaps time to spare a thought for the less fortunate, and organisers Harrah’s Entertainment have made some laudable provisions.
This year, players can help by pledging one percent of their winnings to put a “Bad Beat on Cancer,” hopefully showing yet again that poker players are among the most openhearted and generous of gamblers.
Once again this year there will be a special Ante Up for Africa tournament, which sees top players and celebrities coming together to raise awareness of the humanitarian tragedy of Darfur.
