The 2013 edition of the prestigious World Series of Poker Europe tournament kicks off today (October 11) in the luxurious surroundings of the 100-year-old lakeside Casino Barriere, just eight miles north of the centre of Paris at Enghien-les-Bains.
The first event to see the cards fly is the Euro 1,100 buy-in Ladies No Limit Texas Hold’em – a two-day competition that has attracted some serious female aces.
This is the seventh time the WSOPE has been held, and players have eight winner bracelets to compete for across a range of poker game styles.
Along with the bracelet events, the organisers have included dozens of side events and cash games running around the clock.
