In its third venue change in six years, the World Series of Poker Europe has chosen Paris as the venue for the 7th edition of this major poker tournament. Previous events have been in London and Cannes.
The 2013 WSOPE will be held in Casino Barrière Enghien-les-Bains from October 11-24, 2013, tournament vice president of communications Seth Palansky announced Monday.
The resort, said to house the oldest casino in France, is well-appointed and positioned, being only 12 kilometres from the city of Paris.
Ty Stewart, WSOP’s executive director, said Monday: “Part of our vision for WSOP Europe is to mix poker and pleasure – and introduce players to some of the most exciting destinations in Europe.
“Barrière’s facilities in Enghien are amazing and there are likely 12 million Parisians all trying to make sure “Phillipe” Hellmuth doesn’t win another bracelet on French soil. With our ideal dates scheduled to avoid conflicts for traveling players, expanded TV coverage and qualifiers planned, we expect to be back in record-setting mode in 2013.”
The program for the 2013 WSOPE has yet to be finalised, but Palansky intimated that there is likely to be 7 bracelet events, including a High Rollers competition and a Euro 10,000 buy-in main event.
