Big money continues to flow through the online poker tournament sector with the announcement this week that 888Poker is investing $8 million in prize guarantees for its next major online tournament – the XL Eclipse Championship series.
These prize pools will be the largest in the company’s history, the company has claimed, noting that the Eclipse guarantees are half a million dollars up on those invested in forerunner XL Inferno series in May this year.
The detailed schedule for the new series is yet to be publicised, but Eclipse is scheduled to begin in September, and 888Poker is already running promotions and qualifiers.
The company has revealed that part of Eclipse will be a Champion of Champions competition planned for September 26, in which the winners of individual Eclipse contests will be additionally rewarded with seats in an event where the top 40 players can win prizes that include a World Series of Poker Europe Main Event package.
