Bluff Magazine publisher Eric Morris, who developed the idea of Readers Choice Awards for the online gaming industry during his tenure as the top man at Gambling Online Magazine has extended the concept to the poker sector.
Starting this week, Bluff will begin taking online voting for the first ever Bluff Magazine’s Annual Readers Choice Awards, with categories for 2006 including : Most Entertaining Player to Watch, Best All-Around Online Poker Room, Best Online Customer Service, Best Live Poker Tournaments and Best Poker Commentary.
Online voting commences Thursday January 12th and will close on June 1st. The results will be revealed in Bluff Magazine’s World Series of Poker preview issue that hits newsstands on July 20th.
The concept of readers voting independently for the top awards has already proved popular at GOM, where tens of thousands of people interested in the industry voted every year, generating significant interest in the winners. Companies honoured in the awards used their achievements to good effect in subsequent marketing and publicity efforts.
Readers and poker fans worldwide can participate in shaping the awards by visiting www.bluffmagazine.com/readersChoice/. There’s a chance to win something for yourself, too – Bluff Magazine will be randomly giving away an IPod Nano to five voters.
“Bluff Magazine is giving its readers influence and a voice in shaping the future of poker,” says Morris. “Never before have poker players been able to vote in “The best of the best,” in over 20 different poker categories and these awards will be a true testament to the companies who receive various accolades.”
