DDoS attack disrupts million dollar online poker tourney.

By RP, December 15, 2014

Amid reports over the past two weeks of a growing number of suspected Distributed Denial of Service attacks on internet gambling sites (see previous  reports) the weekend saw a million dollar online poker tournament at Americas Cardroom cancelled due to a persistent assault on the servers by a person or persons unknown at present.

The cardroom’s Winning Millions tournament was taken down Sunday after suffering continual interruptions, and has been re-scheduled for February 22 2015.

In a statement, the operator expressed regret at the cancellation and noted that despite its best efforts, due to the attack Americas Cardroom had been unable to provide a stable and fair gaming experience, with many players being timed out.

The matter was being addressed, and the company remained committed to the Winning Millions tournament, the statement concluded.
