Poker pro Robert Mizrachi (37) is off to a great start in this years’ World Series of Poker, emerging victorious in the $10,000 buy-in Seven Card Stud Championship to take home his fourth WSOP winners’ bracelet and the main prize of $242,662.
Mizrachi bested 87 other entrants on his way, many of them household names in the game. The achievement also marked the third consecutive year of WSOP in which Mizrachi has won a major event.
On the final day of the competition Mizrachi led the field but was faced by formidable final table opposition that included David Benyamine, six-time bracelet winner Ted Forrest and three-time bracelet winner German ace George Danzer.
However it was single bracelet-holder Matt Grapenthien who Mizrachi faced in the heads up, which was fiercely contested and lasted for over three hours before Mizrachi was able to retain control and finally eliminate a very talented opponent, sending Grapenthien to the exit and a well-earned runner up prize of $149,976.
