Online poker provider PartyPoker has come up with a clever idea; a proprietary cyber currency titled MY PP LIVE $$$ that will give online satellite winners the wherewithal to enter its live events.
Starting in 2018, players will be able to win daily and weekly satellites for the currency, which can then be used for buy-ins to any PartyPoker LIVE main events, side events, hotels and travel. This includes MILLIONS, Country Championships, Grand Prix events and PartyPoker sponsored events such as WSOP Brazil.
In addition, there will be a $1 million leader board for the biggest winners of the currency, providing an incentive for satellite regulars to play. If any satellite qualifier goes on to win this Sunday’s MILLIONS Online event, they will also win $100,000 in MY PP LIVE $$$.
PartyPoker LIVE president, John Duthie, said in a statement introducing the new concept:
“We’ve spent a lot of this year listening to players and one of the most common criticisms about the online to LIVE satellite route has always been getting locked into specific events when circumstances may change.
“Enter partypoker LIVE $$$. This virtual currency can be used to buy in to any PartyPoker LIVE event worldwide and also to pay for travel and accommodation. The cuurency has no expiry date. This gives players more freedom.
“To launch PartyPoker LIVE $$$ we’re going create a Leaderboard in 2018 with $1,000,000 being divvied up between the top players. We’d rather give money to our customers than spend it on advertising.”
