New York online poker bill heads to state senate floor.

By RP, June 2, 2016

Amidst the drama surrounding the daily fantasy sports debate in both the New York House and the Senate, an important advance on internet poker legalisation occurred almost unnoticed.

The Senate Finance Committee quickly and without fuss approved Sen. John Bonacic’s legalisation bill S5302 on a 9 vs. 0 vote and sent it to the Senate floor for further consideration.

The day before, the bill had been voted forward by a similar margin in the Senate Racing and Wagering Committee (see previous report).

However, observers noted that there could still be opposition on the floor which could delay proceedings past the June 16 adjournment date for the Legislature and ultimately postpone progress indefinitely.
