Las Vegas professional poker player and former lawyer Jared Jaffee (36) bested a talented field of 687 entries to win the $1,675 buy-in World Series of Poker Circuit main event at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles Tuesday, claiming the main prize of $211,220.
Just weeks ago the WSOP bracelet holder took down the six-max event at WPT Five Diamond for $84,000, followed by a further $38,000 twenty-eighth place finish in the main event at the same tournament.
Kelly Minkin, who had dominated much of the final day’s action in the Bicycle event, was unable to maintain her lead and busted out at third for $95,880, opening the path to a heads up between Jaffe and Californian pro Brendan Baksh, with Jaffee holding an almost 2 to 1 chip advantage.
Initially, Jaffe extended his lead, but Baksh proved to be both skilled and determined, fighting back with a double up that gave him the chip lead. That triggered some very competitive poker until Jaffe was able to regain the lead and build it into a victory, sending Baksh home with a second placing reward of $130,270.
