With players across the globe showing an appetite for online poker tournament action, 888Poker has joined Pokerstars, PartyPoker and Winamaxin offering increasingly larger guarantees on multi-event championships.
888 has revealed the schedule for XL Inferno, the latest in its Super XL Series, promising $7.5 million in guaranteed prizes across almost 200 events over two weeks, a hefty increase on the $5 million invested in its January 2017 competitions.
XL Inferno is one of three 888 tournament series that will run this year as part of the “XL Championship Series.” XL Eclipse is scheduled for September, and will be followed by XL Blizzard in January of 2018.
Whilst it trails rivals in current competitions Pokerstars (SCOOP $65 million), PartyPoker (Powerfest $20 million) and Winamax (Euro 11 million) it’s perhaps an indication that 888 does not intend to be left behind in this sector.
