The controversial online poker operator Lock Poker was under the microscope again this week, once more over long-outstanding payments to players.
The online poker information site 4Flush reported on the case of two players who have been awaiting relatively small payments (less than $2,000) by check since December 20 2012…a frustrating way to celebrate an anniversary, for sure.
And 4Flush notes that according to posts on the twoplustwo poker forum, the oldest Western Union withdrawal request for a Lock payment was made on February 20, 2013.
“Other U.S. online poker sites process these types of withdrawals in the matter of days. This is not just an issue with U.S. players. Tens of thousands of dollars are pending to international ewallets from requests dating back to March 2013. Many pending ewallet transactions are in the amount of $10,000, the maximum allowed by Lock Poker,” journalist John Mehaffey writes.
The total amount owed as of December 23, 2013 reportedly exceeds $700,000 spread among 265 players, but this statistic reflects only those players who have contacted two poker players who are leading the charge in keeping the pressure on Lock Poker to meet its obligations.
Reports on the twoplustwo forum suggest that there appears to be no chronological order or pattern to payments, some of which have been made to players who have “only” waited for up to seven months to get their cash.
