The Isle of Man-based online poker operator Pokerstars has announced the appointment of Kirsty Thompson as head of Pro and Celebrity Marketing.

Thompson has been with Pokerstars since 2009 holding a variety of positions, most recently serving as president of the U.K. & Ireland Poker Tour and live rooms.

“Her experience in managing some of the world’s biggest and best live poker series, and her relationship with many of the world’s top players, will serve PokerStars, Team Pro and the industry very well in the years ahead.”

Thompson has been a respected figure in the online gaming industry for several years, creating the UKIPT, working on the EPT for three years, and winning awards including Biggest Contributor to Poker Award 2012 at the British Poker Awards, and being a part of the team that was crowned winner of the Best Team Award 2013 at the Women in Gaming awards.
