The sheer devastation of this week’s Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf states of America has resulted in massive deprivation and suffering among the people of the region, and one of the Internet’s largest poker operations, PokerStars.com has launched a fund-raising initiative to try and help the Red Cross deal with the situation.
The site will be running two buy-in tournaments on Monday, Sept. 12th at 9:30 PM Eastern Time ($5+0 NLH) and on Wednesday, Sept. 14th at 9:30 PM Eastern Time ($20+0 NLH)
$.01 of each buyin and rebuy is going to the prize pool, and PokerStars is very charitably 100 percent matching all buyins and sending the money to the American Red Cross.
There’ll be cool prizes for the final table finishers and readers can get the detail and follow progress here: http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/2005/08/pokerstars-to-host-hurricane-katrina.html)
or in the special section of the PokerStars tournament lobby.
