Poker News reports that some suprisingly big names were among the many contestants to crash out of the World Series of Poker on the first day today (Thursday) as literally thousands of would be global poker champs competed in Las Vegas.
Among those who had been expected to go further were:
Jen Harman
Scott Fischman
Thunder Keller
Jesus Ferguson
Ted Forrest
Josh Arieh
Mike Sexton
Devilfish
Barry Greenstein
Johnny Chan (ten bracelet holder)
Phil Laak
Jennifer Tilly
Martin DeKnijff
The chip leader at the end of day one was Lee Watkinson, who has over 50,000 ships more than all but two others in the field.
650 players are left, and these will now have time for some R&R until the next and last mass field of 2,000 persons assembles.
From then on the attrition rate will reduce the field down to one room, and then to the critical final table that will decide who’s the boss!
