Spanish poker ace Luis Rodriguez Cruz went home GBP 200,000 wealthier this week after besting a field of 522 to win the GBP 2,200 buy-in Partypoker WPT UK Main Event.
The final table of the competition lasted for five-and-a-half hours as six finalists battled it out Monday for the big money. The action was fast and furious and by hand 31 there were just three occupied seats at the table – Cruz, Christopher Yong and Nabil Cardoso.

Yong eliminated Cardoso at third for GBP 90,000 to enter the heads up stage against Cruz, which lasted for a further 55 hands before Cruz was able to send a very impressive opponent to the exit with the runner up consolatory prize of GBP 135,000.
