Top players fall like skittles on day 2 at the WSOP.

The 1,624 survivors from starting days 1A and 1B are currently playing at the Rio in Las Vegas. At the start of the Day 2 action Wednesday William Kakon and Hamid Feiz led their fields respectively with stacks of 152,325 and 182,675 (see previous reports).

The action was still raging when we went to press Thursday morning, but already many top players have been shown the exit, including: Johnny Chan, Jason Mercier, Chris Moneymaker, Dan Harrington, Novbember Niner Jorryt Van Hoof, Dutch Boyd, Amit Makhija, Phil Galfond and Brian Rast.

Celebrity casualties included Hollywood actors James Woods and Jennifer Tilly.

Still very much in contention were Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, George Danzer, former main event champ Jonathan Duhamel and this year’s winner of the Ladies Championship, Jacqueline Scott.

The Day 1C survivors start their Day 2 later today (Thursday).
