U.S. basketball franchise cuts ties with Partypoker.

The Philadelphia 76ers US basketball franchise has prematurely ended its partnership with Bwin’s PartyPoker in a move that has left industry observers surprised and puzzled.

PartyPoker is not involved in the daily fantasy sports sector which has been under siege for the past three weeks, although US sports teams have been criticised for closer links with gambling firms, the Reuters news agency reports.

Bwin.Party had not commented on the separation when we went to press Thursday, and the CEO of the Sixers, Scott O’Neil, did not throw much light on the issue, saying merely that most partnerships have conditions that can trigger change necessary due to market circumstances.
