U.S. poker pro wins Canadian poker championship.

US poker pro Seth Davies (27) is Cdn$226,893 wealthier today after besting 416 other contestants to take down the Cdn$3,500 buy-in PartyPoker World Poker Tour Canadian Spring Championship – his first WPT title.

Davies worked his way methodically through the competitive field in the NLHE event to enter the final table stage second in the chip counts behind Canadian pro Ruben Perceval, and the two survived to ultimately end up facing each other in the heads up after Davies eliminated most of the opposition.

Davies maintained his domination and chip advantage into the heads up, but Perceval rallied in a brief comeback which he could not sustain in the face of Davies’ relentless aggression; the title and the winner’s spoils went to the US player, leaving Perceval with a second-placing prize of Cdn$ 115,598.

Other final table cashes included:

3 Joel Miller Cdn$89,763
4 Thomas Taylor Cdn$66,377
5 Guillaume Nolet Cdn$49,833
6 Tony Dunst Cdn$39,922
7 Scott Mcmorran Cdn$35,421
8 Zheng Wei Cdn$28,248
9 Rene Fortin Cdn$21,182
