One of UK’s great poker characters, the late Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott, has been remembered in various moves designed to honour his contribution to the game and his singular character.

The most significant of the initiatives is by World Poker Tour, which in partnership with Rob Yong’s Dusk Til Dawn poker club in Nottingham has announced the inaugural Devilfish Cup, a GBP 5,000 buy-in competition with a guaranteed prize pool of GBP 1 million which will kick off on October 31 this year at DTD.

GBP 300 and a 3 percent share of the final prize pool will be donated to the Marie Curie support organisation for terminally ill patients and a trust fund for Ulliott’s daughter Lucy.

DTD Director Simon Trumper said this week that the arrangements were in line with Dave’s wishes expressed prior to his death, and revealed that in a further tribute to Devilfish’s well known love of a good time, the club has rebranded its bar with his name, and re-titled his favourite drink – a double vodka with Red Bull – “The Devilfish”.

Finally, The October 31 tournament in Devilfish’s honour will be followed November 2 with a massive DTD party in which a live band will play a Devilfish rock ‘n roll fave “Johnny Be Good.”
