What`s up with 888Poker in Mexico?.

By RP, May 15, 2014

Over the past 48 hours players have been scratching their heads over reports that 888Poker players – particularly those in parts of Mexico – are being arbitrarily and without explanation told that their accounts have been shut down.

So far there has been no public reaction from the company, fuelling forum speculation that a future tightening up of laws in Mexico could be the cause for 888’s actions.

Many players report receiving the following email from 888Poker owner Cassava Enterprises:

“This is the Operations Department at Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd. We are contacting you with regards to your account with username xxxxxx.

“This email is to inform you that we have taken a decision to discontinue your membership with us. Please note that a cashout request of your bankroll has been made on your behalf and will be paid in accordance with our policies.

“We ask that you refrain from opening new accounts owned or operated by us, as these too will be closed and no monies refunded.

Regards,
Operations Department
Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd.”

Discussion on the popular twoplustwo forum includes warnings from some players that if the emails include any request for account information confirmation, they should be treated as potential phishing scams.
