Poker still has pull

The Digital Journal reports that National A1 Advertising has sold the domain name Poker.org for $1 million to Pokercompany.com, in what is believed to be the highest value sale yet of a .org domain.

Pokercompany.com currently owns other non -.com domains such as Craps.net, Blackjack.org and RakeBack.org.

Digital Journal informs that the .org domain sale is much smaller than most .com sales such as the $5.1 million paid for Toys.com and $3 million for Candy.com.

The Washington Post also reported on the Poker.org sale, advising that prior to it the largest .org domain went for $198 000 for Engineering.org.

Currently .org domain registrations are up 11 percent and constitute the third largest domain registration, notes Tech Crunch. There are more than 7 million .org domain registrations on the Internet.
