Veteran player the star in WPT tourney
Veteran Full Tilt Poker pro Steve Brecher is $1 025 000 wealthier this weekend after beating respected poker ace Kathy Liebert in the heads up to claim the top spot in World Poker Tour's Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament.
The entry field of 391 players was up on last year's field of 366, generating a bigger prize pool for the contestants, and after almost a week of action and a six handed final table Brecher and Liebert faced off in the heads up in San Jose, California.Final tablers were Brecher holding the chip lead on 2 056 000, Tony Behari (2 046 000), Chris Moore (1 476 000) Kathy Liebert (1 180 000), Thao Le (711 000) and Chau Vu (352 000)
Brecher held a 2.5 to 1 chip lead over Liebert going into the heads up, after almost 12 hours of final table action.
The final table contestants were all into six-figure check territory, with second placed Liebert taking home $550 000 and the rest of the table collecting checks as follows:
3rd Place: $291 500
4th Place: $230 000
5th Place: $180 000
6th Place: $135 000
