The big game disappointment

04/10/2010

After weeks of hyping the possible unmasking of mystery Swedish high stakes player Isildur1, Party Poker's The Big Game has told disappointed fans that one of the major attractions for the tournament starting this weekend will not, after all, be attending.

TonyG followed the announcement with a notification of his own on his blog at http://blog.partypoker.com/tony-g/isildur1-sry-for-not-coming-take-care-bud.html, in which no reasons were given for a curt SMS from the enigmatic Swede saying merely “Sry for not coming, take care bud.”
The blog goes on to advise that Eddie Hearn, the event organiser and md of Matchroom Sport, personally spoke to Isildur1 and his manager and confirmed the cancellation.
"To say I am disappointed is an understatement," said TonyG. "I have spent so much time talking to him and reassuring him recently but he’s just not going to come. We agreed a 50/50 staking deal, it all started out with personal contact and then in recent hours managers/agents got involved as you would expect.
"It has left a bad taste in my mouth. What you have to understand is that he reached out to me first and asked and then agreed to play. As far as I am concerned I am washing my hands with him and moving on."
The blog claims that Isildur1 has some personal issues to which he has to attend attend, and that TonyG was going to fly Isildur1 and three of his friends to London for the Big Game.
"He mentioned that he didn’t think that the stakes were big enough but we had agreed to make the game much bigger when he came in," TonyG concludes.
