Cardplayer TV launching new show

04/20/2010

Poker fans will be able to keep up to date on their favourite game and controversial topics associated with it in a new CardPlayerTV show branded "Under the Gun" and hosted by Jon “pokertrip” Friedberg.

The 30-minute weekly show, which is sponsored by UB.com, debuts on Monday April 26th on the CardPlayerTV site and features a regularly changing panel of professional players discussing topics of interest over a wide range - as long as it's connected with poker, it's fair game! Possible sources for discussion subjects will be selected from the media and from poker forum threads

"Rather than focusing only on strategy, we’re going to take it a couple of steps further and provide much more insight into the mindset and lifestyle of poker players,” said Friedberg.

“It’s basically going to be very unscripted and uncensored. I want to expose the mindset and views of the brightest players in the world. I want to know how their minds work as far as debating the more widely disputed topics and issues.”

Friedberg has the experience to do a good job. He previously hosted “Stacking Chips” during the 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) on CardPlayer TV, and he has experience in other poker-related media. He also knows the business from a player perspective, as a WSOP bracelet holder who won a NLHE event four years ago for $526 000, fighting off challenges by Humberto Brenes, Thang Liu, and Carlos Mortensen.

Friedberg gave a few examples of likely panel discussion subjects which included the relationships and ethics of players and backers; improving the integrity of live poker; and the use of software records and databases in online poker clashes.

“Under the Gun” should attract a good audience, and joins a range of CardPlayerTV programs that includes “This Week in Poker;” “The Scoop;” and “Poker Buzz.”
