Krause takes the Cyprus Classic Poker crown

The six-man final table of the 2010 Full Tilt Poker Merit Cyprus Classic championship has concluded with Andreas Krause taking the honours and the main prize of $415,780

The televised final table comprised Zsolt Vasvenszki 1,885,000, Van Marcus 1,436,000, Mathieu Clavet 940,000, Andreas Krause 849,000, Ahmet Ucali 420,000 and Hakan Dalokay 266,000 when the action kicked off Wednesday, and took around four-and-a-hours to complete.

Hakan Dalokay, as the shortest stack, was first to be busted in the very early stages of the final game, eliminated by Vasvenszki and heading for the exit in sixth place for $55,220.

Just under an hour later Ahmet Ucali clashed with Mathieu Clavet and came off second best to collect a fifth placing check worth $68,215 from the cashier. He was followed by Zsolt Vasvenszki, out after being busted by Krause, and departing with a fourth placing reward of $90,950.

The action continued three-handed, but Van Marcus put the heads up in place when he was bundled out in third by Clavet to collect a paycheck of $162,415.

Krause began heads-up play with the chip lead, but the dynamics changed a number of times as Mathieu Clavet doubled through and then Krause regained the ascendancy in another double through. In the end it was Krause who prevailed after an exciting enough back-and-forth between two bold and talented players.

Clavet took home $285,850 for his runner-up finish, whilst Krause took the main prize and the bracelet.
