Online and live tournament poker ace Yevgeni Timoshenko is on top of the world right now following his victory in the latest PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker main event.

Born in the Ukraine but educated in the US, Timoshenko earned a massive $1 715 200 for his first placing after besting an entry field of 2 144 in the $5 200 buy-in online tourney, boosting still further his career earnings following his WPT Championship win last April.

The path to the heads up began when Timoshenko despatched third placed 'Reddevil' to set the scene for a heads up with 'Udon Wannit', with Timoshenko holding a formidable 3 to 1 chip lead which enabled him to see off his opponent in short order and claim the big prize.

'Udon Wannit' collected a healthy $1 286 400 consolation prize for his second placing.

Timoshenko's latest win brings his career earnings to over $3 million, including $2 149 960 from the 2009 WPT Championship and $500 000 from his APT Macau win in 2008.
