PPA urges members to contact federal reserve
The Poker Players Alliance is mobilising resistance to the attempt by the outgoing Bush administration in the United States to rush through controversial regulations supporting the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (see previous InfoPowa report) The poker advocacy group is urging all members to call the U.S. Federal Reserve and object to the over-hasty process currently being adopted before the Obama administration and the Democrats have taken power.
The relevant numbers are:Board of Governors, 202-974-7008 or Public Affairs, 202-452-2955
PPA executive director John Pappas recommends that callers make these points:
* The federal agencies responsible for our nation's economy should not be focused on Internet poker regulations.
* Finalization of the UIGEA rules will add additional burdens on our already crippled financial systems. * Internet poker is a game of skill and form of recreation for millions of Americans; it should be exempted from the UIGEA.
* Please do not finalise the UIGEA regulations until their impact on our banking systems and average Americans has been fully studied.
The PPA website also has a template for sending email, and links to online comments you can make.
