WPT delivering plenty of action
Competing for attention with the World Series of Poker events taking place at the Rio this weekend was Saturday evening's final table in the World Poker Tour Mandalay Bay Poker Championship, which saw Shawn Buchanan whup Jared Hamby in a tight heads up that delivered a $768 775 blockbuster of a winner's check to Buchanon and a $459 080 second place prize to his worthy opponent.
Hamby, who had the chip lead coming into the final table, must have been disappointed to lose at the end after putting on a great display of poker skill and sportsmanship.
The final table was televised, and the six figure wins went down to position four, with Thayer Rasmussen collecting $131 170 for his trouble.
