Ongame-powered Spanish language poker room Poker Loco.com says that the boom in online poker is spreading rapidly and has now reached Spain. Claiming to be the first Hispanic online poker site, the company is optimistic about the game in Spain and other Latin countries.
According to recently released stats from Overture, the number of poker related Internet searches from Spain increased by more than 500 percent during September 2005, says Andre Matarazzo a director of the company.
Far more searches are now performed by Spaniards than Swedes, a country that has more than 250 000 active online poker players.
Besides Spain, PokerLoco.com is offering online poker to Portugal and South America, a significant population of over 600 million people that up until today have not had access to online poker in their native languages.
Spain has already emerged as a contender against Brazil as PokerLoco.com’s potentially second largest market, and the company believes that Spain will overtake Brazil if this growth continues.
