The Pokerstars Championship in Monte Carlo continued to deliver on exciting action this week with the completion of another High Roller event, this one the Euro 25,500 buy-in Single Day High Roller, which attracted 85 entries (27 of them re-ups, including a remarkable four by runner up Steve O’Dwyer!) generating a prize pool of Euro 2,082,500.

The limited time, high action format seemed to suit German pro Philipp Gruissem well as he sailed through the game, rarely making a misstep despite a formidable list of opponents that included Rafael Moraes, Joao Simao, John Juanda, David Peters, Nick Petrangelo, Jason Mercier, Oliver Weis, David Dvoress, Justin Bonomo, Mikita Badziakouski, Dan Colman, Mike Watson, David Yan and Erik Seidel.

When John Juanda busted at third for Euro 266,550 heads up finalists Steve O’Dwyer and Gruissem huddled to work out a chop which gave Euro 494,665 to O’Dyer as chip leader and Euro 465,135 to Gruissem, with Euro 20,000 left on the table for the ultimate winner.

Two hands later it was all over, with Gruissem surprising the crowd to emerge as winner with Euro 485,135, and O’Dwyer actually earning more as runner up on Euro 494,665….but remember he had re-entered four times at Euro 25,500 a pop.

Other final table cashes included:

Justin Bonomo Euro 205,100
Oliver Weis Euro 162,450
Mikita Badziakouski Euro 127,030
Daniel Dvoress Euro 100,000
Jason Mercier Euro 78,100
Nick Petrangelo Euro 59,350
