2009 World Series of Poker main event winner Joe Cada (26) displayed the skill that has won him millions in live tournament clashes when he bested an star-studded entry field of 263 other players Monday in taking down the $10,000 buy-in NLHE Six Handed competition – number 32 on the WSOP 2014 schedule – to claim his second bracelet and $670,041 in prize money.
The entry field generated a prize pool of $2,481,600, and by the time the final table had been reached only two of the survivors were not bracelet owners, an indication of the quality of the field in this outstanding event.
The final table comprised Cada and Jeremy Ausmus, Max Silver, JC Tran, Erick Lindgren and Dario Sammartino.
Cada led the final table and never really relinquished his hold on the game all the way through. In the heads up he faced formidable live tournament ace Jeremy Ausmus in a hard fought contest where hand 107 was pivotal, most of the chips in play riding on the result, which went to Cada.
By hand 112 it was all over and Ausmus retired with a second placing reward of $414,104.
Cada added the substantial first prize to PCA, WSOP and other live tourney career winnings that have earned the Michigan native almost $9 million in as many years.
