US poker pro Kenneth Smaron is $293,860 wealthier today after taking down the $5,300 buy-in PokerStars Championship Panama Main Event to record the second biggest prize of his career after besting a field of 363.

The six survivors at the final table made sure it was a close-run contest, with the chip lead moving several times between the finalists before dominant players Smaron and Canada’s Harpreet Gill emerged in the heads up, with Smaron holding a slight lead.

After a dinner break the action resumed with the players quickly going all-in on the ninth hand of the heads up and the 170th hand of the final table, with Smaron clinching the win.

Gill headed home with a useful $217,860 runner up prize, whilst other final table cashes included:

Denis Timofeev $161,340
Jonathan Abdellatif $119,480
Robin Luca Wozniczek $88,480
Anthony Diotte $65,520
