Surprise session in Dwan Million Dollar Challenge.

By RP, May 31, 2009

The many observers of the million dollar, 50 000 hand Dwan Challenge inaugural clash between Patrik Antonius and Tom Dwan opined that further action on the Challenge was unlikely whilst the World Series of Poker was running….but they were wrong. The two aces went at it again this week, playing just short of a further 1 000 hands that left Antonius up $23 003 to increase his overall lead to $447 684.

Both players had busted out of the $40 000 WSOP anniversary event, freeing them up for the Challenge.

According to MarketPulse, which is keeping independent statsistics on the Challenge, this session’s largest pot was $200 000, and the two players have so far pushed a total of some $98.44 million across the felt in their clashes. Average pot size across the competition is currently 4 646.

Antonius and Dwan still have a long road to travel to reach the Challenge requirement of 50 000 hands – only 15 123 have been played so far in 195 hours of play.
